Hiking Trail

On Thursday, we took a little walk on the hiking trails around Oberstdorf. We were told about a little lake nearby, Moorweiher, and we set out to find it. BUT, even before getting on the trail, we were lost... ok, not quite lost, we stopped a friendly old couple, who happily described the two paths we could take, and also told us about a lookout point that was a little farther away.

View of Oberstdorf

We first tried to find the lookout point, and though we did find an place with an interesting view of the village of Oberstdorf, I wasn't sure if that was really the point the couple was referring to!

Nevertheless, it was a nice and pleasant walk, and there were benches where we sat to rest and take in the view.

Our next stop was Moorweiher. From the old couples' reaction, we weren't expecting any grand lake. Still, it was pretty cool when we came upon it.

Moorweiher

We sat for a while at one end of the lake. A family of ducks swam by, probably hoping that we would feed them... I took a video of the ducks! Dragonflies flew around, chasing one another. It was generally peaceful. We later took a walk around the lake, stopping frequenly to look into the water and at the dragonflies at the side.

All this time, we had not yet had lunch, and it was almost 4pm by the time we got back to Oberstdorf.

Lunch at Ult 168

We walked around looking for a place for a late lunch - I was in the mood to try one of those spargel menus that is so in-season at that time, but it was hard to find a good menu for vegetarians! We finally found ourselves at Ult 168, where the people was so friendly. The menu of Spargel Omelette was perfect, and I also had a Spargelcremesuppe. On the menu was also a drink made from a flower, and in her attempt to explain what it was, the waitress brought out the flower to show us! I dare say this was one of the best meals we had in Oberstdorf so far!
