The ISU Adult Competition was held in Oberstdorf was held on 1-3 June 2006. This was a very different experience for me - everything seemed more officious, everyone seemed more competitive, and it felt like there was more pressure. BUT there was still this little air of friendship between the skaters. At least those that I know, anyway.
As my event drew near, I was less nervous than I'd expected. Nevertheless, I did feel in need of a little comfort, and asked Axelle to put me on the ice. She asked me, what in my program did I like most. Interesting question - I'd never thought about this, since I made the program myself, and liked all of it. Still, I picked something - the spiral sequence.
That imagery stayed. In my program, when I got to the spiral sequence, I thought about what Axelle asked and smiled. I did a nice single loop after that and continued with the program. Totally under-rotated the double toe, and I must have had a very very surprised look on my face for that! I thought my combination spin was rather good, but when I got to the double Sal, I must have skated over something and skidded a little on the inside edge.
