The PyeongChang 2014 Olympic Bid Committee was extremely hospitable, and had events planned for us outside of the press conference. Ms Jang Yoo-Jin was with us the entire trip and made sure we were well taken care of. She is such a wonderful lady!
On Thursday afternoon, we visited the Great Wall of China - it is indeed magnificent. Halfway up, Sarah and Anja decided they did not want to climb anymore. I continued the climb to the top, together with Ms Jang.
The next day, our flight back to Singapore was in the afternoon. We spent the morning at Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. After lunch, we headed to the airport.
I didn't think I'd have language problems in China... BUT given the participants from Togo did not speak much English, let alone Chinese, I got to do what I least expected - practise my French. I don't think I got very far, though, but now I should remember that piquant means hot/spicy - as in chilli!
It was a short, but memorable trip.
