Figure Skating in Singapore

Figure Skating in Singapore

Yes, there is a rink in Singapore!

Figure skating is still a relatively young sport in Singapore. It first started in the 1970's, but did not last long, as the rinks closed a few years later. After a lull period of almost 20 years, two new rinks opened in 1995, and figure skating was revived. In Oct 2008, one of the rinks closed to make way for building renovations where there was a plan to put in a full-size rink. Unfortunately, that was put on hold. As of today, there is just one rink in operation, with the full-size rink still unrealized.

About me

I am an adult figure skater, and have participated in several international adult competitions. As is the case with most adult skaters, I have to juggle skating with a full-time job, family commitments, and other aspects of life. Add to that part-time coaching and running my club Tropical Blades Ice Skating Club, and now an online store, I don't have time for much else!

In December 2005, I started a blog - Figure Skating in Singapore.

In January 2008, I started an online store to cater to the needs of local figure skaters: ChowSkates.
